World’s first rotating cabin
Lift typeAerial tramway
At the summit of Mount Titlis at 3,020 meters, there is only one season: winter
Back in 1992, the ROTAIR made history as the first aerial tramway with rotating cabin floors. The cabins were replaced in 2014. The new feature is that during the trip from the bottom terminal Stand up to the Titlis, the entire cabin – and not just the cabin floor – revolves 360° about its axis. Thanks to a novel compact system for the rotation mechanism on the roof, it was possible to dispense with the dominant central column in the cabin. For guests, this opens up a unique panoramic view of the glacier landscape.
